Frequently-Asked Questions
How can a baby or toddler use a computer?
A child playing ToddleToons doesn#39;t need to know how to use the mouse
or the keyboard. He or she simply presses a key, any key, or clicks
the mouse at the appropriate time. So the fun and learning come in
knowing WHEN to press or click and in knowing WHAT to do or say at the
same time. The #39;Start#39; keys on Windows keyboards are not disabled
and ToddleToons will be interrupted if a child presses one of them while
playing. If you have #39;Start#39; keys on your keyboard, we suggest that you have
your child hold the mouse in both hands and click it during the games
instead of pressing keys on the keyboard. Another solution would be
to turn the keyboard around so that the #39;Start#39; buttons are not as likely to be
pressed by the child.
How can my child benefit from playing ToddleToons?
In ToddleToons, babies work on many of the concepts that they are
just learning -
Cause and Effect
Animals and the sounds they make
Up and Down
Colors
Big and Little
Shapes
Happy and Sad
Beginning Counting
Body Parts
In addition, these games give them wonderful opportunities to use their
newly-developing sense of language. They love to learn new words and
practice saying them over and over.

My friend#39;s child loves ToddleToons but mine does not seem to be interested.
Don#39;t be concerned if your child doesn#39;t seem very excited to play at first. Some very young children are overwhelmed the first time they see
ToddleToons and they might not seem too enthusiastic. After a couple of play sessions, however, chances are they will be begging you to play. The sounds are a very important part of
ToddleToons so make sure that they are loud enough to be enjoyed. This will also help keep your child#39;s attention.
Should I help my child play ToddleToons?
ToddleToons is designed to be used by an adult and child together. Hold your child in your lap and help guide him or her through the games. Point out objects and talk about colors and other concepts. It is the interaction between you and your child that is the basis for any learning that occurs. In each game, you may see instructions and tips by pressing F2.

My child#39;s fingers are always wet because she puts them in her mouth. What can I do about this?
Since you will be holding her in your lap, try to keep them dry while she is playing at the computer. If you feel it is necessary, you may protect the keyboard by covering it with a vinyl keyboard cover or by wrapping it in a towel or pillowcase. This also keeps little fingers from being pinched. It will still be possible to play the games. (If you are using a towel or pillowcase, make sure that it has been washed in fabric softener to reduce the
amount of static.)

My child has a very short attention span. Won#39;t ToddleToons lose her interest after a short time?
Although very small children have short attention spans, you can keep
a child#39;s interest by quickly moving from one game to another. For a
10 month old, each game may only last 30 seconds or so. Older
toddlers won#39;t need to move so fast between games and some of them
might be able to work with the menu to change games all by themselves.
Why does Internet Explorer keep asking questions about Active X controls, scripting, or cookies whenever I try to play ToddleToons?
ToddleToons uses Active X controls, cookies, and scripting. If you have security set at a high level under your Internet Options, you will receive periodic questions or the games may refuse to run. You may either reconfigure your options and security settings to enable all of these features or you may add www.toddletoons.com to your "Trusted Sites" and then set the options for your "Trusted Sites" to allow these features.
